Abstract

The 9th “Solvias Science Day” took place at theCongress Centre in Basel, Switzerland, on October 25th,2010. Solvias Science Days have become in the last yearsa fixed annual date for experts in chemical developmentand catalysis.This edition of the Science Day attracted around 280specialists from academia and industrial research fromSwitzerland and Europe who followed in three parallelsessions a series of seminars in the areas of ChemicalDevelopment and Catalysis, Solid-State Development andPharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Analysis.In addition to that, the winner of the “Solvias LigandContest”, a prize established in 2002, presented its projectwithin the Science Day.The contest challenges university professors, researchers,students, academic groups and industrial scientistsworldwide to submit new and improved applications ofSolvias ligands and catalysts.The winner is selected on the basis of the novelty, scientificrigor and originality of the work submitted, as well as itspractical applicability in organic synthesis.
