Abstract

The improved regulatory andeconomic environment,combined with rapid patient recruitment and a largepopulation’s growing need for healthcare treatment make acountry like China very attractive market for conductingclinical trials. Data on www.clinicaltrials.gov, one of the mostcomprehensive websites where researches register theirstudies, show that China has a cumulative total of 1725completed or ongoing trials by April 2010. With a robust clinicalresearch infrastructure and improved regulatory framework,China is a leading contributor to the annual growth rate ofclinical trials (1).
