Abstract
Granisetron (GRN) prevent the nausea and vomiting that may occur after treatment with anticancer medicines in chemotherapy or radiation therapy. In this study, a potentiometric liquid membrane sensor for simple and fast quantification of granisetron hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulation and urine was made. Based on some theoretical calculations, GRN-tetraphenylborate ion pair was selected as a sensing material in the organic phase of the PVC membrane. The wide linear range (10-5-10-2 mol L-1), low detection limit (7.8.10-6 mol L-1), and fast response time (~35 s) are the characterizations of this electrochemical sensor. Validation of the method confirms suitability of the sensor for use in the quality control analysis of granisetron hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulation.
