EMOTIONAL WELLNESS, FROM THE INSIDE CARE TO THE OUTSIDE OPPORTUNITY
During the embryo growth and development, skin and brain form at the same time around day 21 starting from the same ectodermal germ layer: the skin, therefore, can be recognized as a sort of extension of the brain.

 

Moreover, a number of interactions are known between skin and the central nervous system, in both directions. An example could be the somatic answer of the body to stress situations, showing for example skin inflammation such as dermatitis, in a brain-skin direction. By the other way, from a skin-brain axis, it is possible to identify as an example the release of neurotransmitters able to interact with nervous system receptors, sending a signal to the central brain. In this last case, when acting topically, we can talk about neurocosmetic ingredients, for example in the case of biomimetic neuro-peptides.
