Almac Group, the global contract development and manufacturing organisation, has expanded its capabilities to offer specialist packaging solutions for paediatric drug products.

Regulatory demands are growing to ensure paediatric formulations are compliant to reduce risk associated with infants and small children ingesting harmful products.  This additional scrutiny has impacted the industry thereby increasing requirements for a range of age appropriate, child resistant packaging solutions.  Almac has responded to this demand by offering specialist packaging for paediatric powders, minitabs or granules into stickpack sachets.

In recent months, Almac partnered with a long-term commercial US client to invest in Almac’s MHRA & FDA approved UK facility to expand its capabilities.  A Merz SBL-50 stickpack machine was introduced offering fully automated forming, filling and sealing processes, capable of producing 80 stickpacks / minute. This adds to Almac’s extensive range of existing commercial packaging solutions complimented by its artwork and pack design services team.
