Bellen Chemistry was established since 2007. Bellen focused on the design and development of hundreds of novel heterocycles. Over the years our innovative capabilities and reliable performance have gradually become more recognized in the marketplace, and our customers encouraged us to develop CRO/CMO and FTE collaboration with them.
On September 25, 2019, Yantai Ningyuan Pharmaceutical Co. held the opening ceremony for the phase 2 manufacturing pilot plant in Shandong. Yantai is the subsidiary of Bellen Chemistry Co.,Ltd. The first phase of the manufacturing capability was in full operation in 2017. The capacity has been full since then which has triggered the phase 2 expansion project. The second phase of the project covers an area of 11.5 acres with a total investment of more than $50M. The main construction project includes a research and development building and four pilot production facilities, one of which is a cGMP standard pilot production facility. There is a total of 17 buildings which include multi-functional production lines, power Centre, sewage treatment facility, production auxiliary building and various warehouses. The non-GMP lines will start operations in October 2019 and the cGMP capability is expected to be in operation by end of 2019.
Bellen is committed to continue investing in the capabilities and facilities to establish a ‘One-Stop-Shop’ chemistry service platform for the needs of small molecular new drug research and development. Bellen Shanghai process R&D Centre was established in 2017 and has completed an expansion in June 2019. It has a lab area of 28,000sqf and more than 70 experienced process chemists. The Centre is providing route development, process optimization and scale up support for all projects in the manufacturing plant. Bellen Beijing innovation Centre, also known as the headquarters of Bellen Chemistry, will be relocated from their current building to a brand-new building in 2020. Bellen Beijing focus on early stage new drug discovery support and equipped with a kilo-lab capability to handle medium scale requirement and quick delivery of the product is top priority.
In the past 12 years the company has grown from 6 employees to over 500 employees. In line with our global service commitment, we have also set up branches in the US, UK, Canada, France and Japan. Enabling us to provide better and faster services to our local customers. Today, we provide project support to a variety of different customers, from university institutes to the top 10 giant pharmaceutical companies.
