Women in Technology (WIT) has named Paula Garcia Todd of DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences Woman of the Year in Engineering, highlighting the business’ ongoing commitment to cultivate world-class female leadership, catalyze culture change, foster gender parity and drive inclusive leadership. Selected out of 140 nominees, this recognition honors Garcia Todd’s passion for innovation, trailblazing leadership and her commitment to inspiring the next generation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM).
WIT celebrates female visionaries, groundbreakers and remarkable leaders living in the state of Georgia, who make a difference in their community. Garcia Todd, global strategic marketing manager, Pharma Solutions, DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences, was recognized for her leadership in driving pharmaceutical product innovation, her active championing of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, and her ongoing community service.
“As a Latina, I know firsthand how important it is to cultivate an environment in which everyone feels heard and empowered,” said Garcia Todd. “I hope my recognition inspires the next generation to fearlessly pursue a career dedicated to creating life-changing technologies through STEAM that enable our world to thrive.”
In her 17 years with DuPont, and previously The Dow Chemical Company, Garcia Todd has contributed her expertise through roles in engineering, research and development, technical support and various marketing and product management positions. Garcia Todd contributes to her collegiate and local communities, by serving on boards and organizations focused on increasing STEAM opportunities, and in working with local teachers to identify and access STEAM corporate outreach programs like those offered through DuPont.
Last year, she was named an IF/THEN ambassador through the American Association for the Advancement of Science to serve as a national role model to middle school girls, enabling her to reach classrooms and clubs across the country through virtual visits and presentations.
“For the young female students that she closely mentors, Paula’s award demonstrates that there’s a seat at the table for them in these disciplines and industries,” said Angela Strzelecki, global platform leader, Pharma Solutions, DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences.
“Her passion embodies our efforts to help increase opportunities for women and empower female leadership in the workplace, including our pharmaceutical industry.”
DuPont is committed to cultivating a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment that leads to sustainable organizational progress, and Garcia Todd’s recognition is a true embodiment of that. The company fuels female leadership and has been named one of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises for a sixth consecutive year. Garcia Todd’s recognition is another step forward towards achieving DuPont’s goal of becoming one of the world’s most inclusive companies, with diversity well ahead of industry benchmarks by 2030.
