Firmenich proudly announces that it has successfully completed the registration of chemical substances as part of the European Union’s REACH regulation. Designed to improve the
protection of human health and the environment, REACH is a major European chemical law, standing for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals.

Adopted in 2007, REACH transfers the primary burden of proof to demonstrate the safety of chemical substances from regulatory authorities to individual companies who manufacture or import chemicals into the European Union. The industry had until 31st May 2018 to demonstrate compliance, or face market exclusion and/or restrictions on
production.
Following the completion of registration in the European Union, Firmenich will continue to work with regulatory authorities in the European Union to ensure ongoing compliance, as well as registration for similar REACH regulations in additional countries and regions, including Korea and Turkey.
