Glatt Ingenieurtechnik GmbH showcased its pioneering fluidized bed and spouted bed technologies for sophisticated applications that require specific particle sizes or shapes, optimum solubility, compressibility or the functional protection of active ingredients. The engineering expert and plant manufacturer highlighted its capabilities in product and process development across the fields of food, beverage and instant products, dietary supplements and nutraceuticals. At the technology experts’ booth, producers of food and active ingredients were able to dive into the process chambers of large scale facilities with the help of Augmented Reality systems.
They experienced the way in which fluids can be spray granulated, powders can be spray agglomerated and sensitive substances can be encapsulated and covered with a functional coating.
Conversations on the Glatt stand also focussed on the technical challenges that can occur during handling, production or filling, as well as the enhancement of functional, nutritional and sensory properties. Glatt’s core business is plant engineering, so its tailor-made ingredients are produced on state-of-the-art facilities. During the HiE virtual tour, visitors were led to Glatt’s smallest plant, the ProCell LabSystem mobile laboratory, which can be used for both fluidized bed and spouted bed trials.
This innovative facility can also be equipped with different process inserts to suit all possible process variations and combinations. Customers from around the world send their product engineers to Glatt in Weimar to develop new formulations in close collaboration with the company’s experts, to create product samples and to establish the process parameters for large capacity scale-up.
