Ipsen will acquire some OTC from Sanofi for 83 million euros

Sanofi will sell to Ipsen five over-the-counter products including Prontalgine, a painkiller for the treatment of moderate to severe pain, available only in France, in a move that will help progress its planned asset swap deal with Boehringer Ingelheim.

In August, the European Commission approved the proposed acquisition of Boehringer Ingelheim’s consumer health business by Sanofi under the condition that Sanofi wpuld sell a number of treatments in some western and eastern European countries.

Among the posducts bought by Ipsens there are also the antispasmodic Buscopan, the laxative Suppositoria Glycerini and Mucothiol and Mucodyne, for  coughand flu.

Ipsen says deal will boost profits.
