Expanded Educational Programming and Increased Student Engagement On Tap for Annual Ingredients and Formulation Event
NYSCC (New York Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists) is planning for its biggest edition of Suppliers’ Day set to take place May 2-3, 2023 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. For more than 40 years, this annual event is a must attend forum for cosmetic chemists, formulators and the beauty and personal care industry.
A more expansive and diverse educational program will be presented covering a number of topics vital to all aspects of the industry. Emerging from the pandemic, and its related stressors, Suppliers’ Day will focus on all elements that foster renewal and will shine a light on organic and sustainable wellness for the body, mind and spirit.
The event will bridge how wellness, and eco-consciousness touches all areas of the industry including devices, home care, pet care, as well as feminine and intimate care. Areas that will be explored include how aromatics can be more of a focal point and connecting the essence of inside out beauty to ingredients, formulation and product development.
Suppliers’ Day will feature curated content blocks that cover science and technical programs such as “Biotechnology in Personal Care Product Development;” “Hair & Scalp Renewal & Wellness;” as well as the pre-event SCC CEP courses. Product development sessions include “Microbiome: Inside/Out Beauty;” “Digital Age of Beauty;” “Fragrance: The Invisible Art;” “Discover Sustainability;” “World of Chemistry;” and the PCPC presentation on compliance/regulatory issues; Two lunch and learns will focus on “Natural Ingredients, More Tech and Science Needed: A Discussion with the Experts!” and “Chinese Beauty & Personal Care Market.”
Other programs that provide product launch intelligence and future inspiration include the “INDIE 360 Program & Pavilion;” “IBA: Truth in Beauty Sci-Comm Influencers Panel;” “Presentation Theater” featuring exhibitors’ innovations and “Hot Topics Theater” offering lightning sessions on oral care, pet “personal care” product development, contract manufacturing, and more.
“By ’Reimagining Renewal & Wellness’ and all that it embraces at Suppliers’ Day 2023, we will attract new attendees that may not necessarily be tapped into the traditional beauty and personal care space from a color-skin-hair perspective, as well as broaden our discussions and education offerings,” said Stacey House, Chair, NYSCC.
“I also look forward to NYSCC providing more programs that are diverse, and address comprehensive topics that are vital to all aspects of our industry. It’s making sure that we’re able get in front of what’s important and even dive deeper with roundtables on these topics. These types of discussions are really prompting us to be able to move the needle,” she added.
NYSCC Suppliers’ Day will also continue its outreach and empowerment of students and young professionals. In 2023 the Future Chemists Workshop will increase its collaboration with SCC Chapter’s across the country as well as new academic institutions to allow a wide breadth of students to experience this unique real-world lab experience on the show floor.
NYSCC has also increased its partnerships with other industry associations including PCPC, IBA, and its continue collaboration with CEW on the Supplier’s Award for Ingredients and Formulation.
“It is important for NYSCC to take its mission of advancing cosmetic science to other events throughout the year, to provide widespread education and support of other industry-empowering organizations that are committed to helping the beauty and personal care industry innovate and grow,” said House.
