Omyanutra™ and Omyafood™ offer various technological benefits for food and dietary supplements
At this year’s SupplySide West, Omya will present its portfolio in the Food ingredients North America (FiNA) zone at booth 2737. The company will showcase Omyanutra™, a highly functional, porous carrier for active ingredients in dietary supplements, and the innovative flow aid Omyafood™ for powdered products. In addition to its mineral ingredients, Omya will highlight a range of specialties from its US distribution portfolio.
With its high loading capacity for active ingredients or oils, Omyanutra™ provides dietary supplements with superior technological properties. Developed from naturally sourced calcium carbonate, Omyanutra™ offers excellent compactibility and absorption properties for rapidly disintegrating tablets (ODTs). Its structure facilitates the production of tablets that feature greater porosity and mechanical stability. This means that tablets formulated with Omyanutra™ can be filled in regular bottles, reducing costs and simplifying the conditioning process. At the company’s booth, visitors will be able to learn more about the excellent properties of Omyanutra™ and see special fitness ODT samples. This prototype contains ingredients often used in products known to support healthy activity, including B vitamins. The concept will open up new opportunities for manufacturers of ODTs in delivering many ingredients for a broad range of health-focused categories. Omya will also showcase Omyafood™ 100-OG. The innovative mineral acts as both a flow aid and anti-caking agent while minimizing dusting, and thus provides powdered protein and vitamin premixes with multiple benefits. Moreover, Omyafood™ has an elemental calcium content of approximately 40%, making it a very concentrated source of calcium on the market. As such, it can be used as an efficient fortification agent, allowing calcium-related claims to be made. Both Omyafood™ and Omyanutra™ are non-nano and neutral in taste. In addition, Omya presents specialty ingredients for nutraceuticals and functional foods, including dietary fibers, hydrocolloids, proteins and cocoa products.
