Revitalize the key processes of regeneration
To cope with an aggression, several systems (cutaneous, immune, vascular) cooperate to revitalize cellular interactions indispensable for cutaneous regeneration. The fibroblast in particular plays a pivotal role by interconnecting the three systems via the secretion of a pool of growth factors. These factors are placed under the term “fibroblast regenerating complex”. Even though this dynamic process exists for the entire lifetime, original modeling studies from SILAB Research demonstrated that it is altered with age*.
SILAB thus developed REGENIXIR®, a regenerating active ingredient stimulating the skin’s capacity to synthesize its own growth elixir. By restoring the capacity of aged fibroblasts to interact with their environment, the active ingredient enables a transversal action on the three interconnected systems:
- cutaneous system: matrix restructuring and epidermal renewal are improved [1];
- vascular system: formation of a vascular network is restored [2];
- immune system: pro-regenerating macrophages population is increased.
* Through the establishment of scientific partnerships with two prestigious international research laboratories, SILAB has acquired new technological expertise. Integrating in-house the skills required to develop innovative vascularized models and models of immune cells has led to the first-ever demonstration of the depletion of the fibroblast regenerating complex with age and its harmful effect on the interactions of aged fibroblasts with the cutaneous, vascular and immune systems.
[1] Tested at 1% on aged human fibroblasts, REGENIXIR® significantly restores the migration velocity of aged fibroblasts (+97%) and significantly stimulates their differentiation into myofibroblasts (synthesis of α-SMA: +40%).
[2] With REGENIXIR® at 1%, the secretome of aged fibroblasts significantly restores the migration velocity (+93%) and the cohesion (ZO-1: +77%) of aged endothelial cells.
REGENERATING ANTI-AGING EFFECT
Improve skin quality
As of 21 days of application, REGENIXIR® tested at 2.5% in an emulsion demonstrates an anti-wrinkle effect, by significantly reducing crow’s feet wrinkles in Caucasian (-10%) and Asian subjects (-6%).
In the same conditions, tested in Caucasian volunteers, the active ingredient:
- improves the biomechanical properties of the skin (firmness: +10%; elasticity: +14%; tonicity: +25%);
- attenuates the visibility of microvessels (-6%) and demonstrates an anti-under-eye circles efficacy by significantly improving the color of under-eye circles (parameter b*: -2.9%);
- significantly restores the parameters characteristic of complexion radiance (reflection: +9%; pink color: +15%; olive color: -7%; luminosity: -6%).
All these effects continue after 42 days of treatment and are perceived by the volunteers themselves.
A YEAST WITH RECOGNIZED HEALTH BENEFITS
Biotechnological origin
In the framework of developing REGENIXIR®, SILAB has focused on the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Widely used in the food industry, this yeast is also recognized by the medical and scientific community for its countless properties: richness in nutrients, capacity to stimulate energy production and immune defenses, etc.
SILAB has therefore put the health benefits of S. cerevisiae to beneficial use by extracting oligo-β-glucans that can restore the interconnectivity of the cutaneous, immune and vascular systems for a regenerating anti-aging effect.
REGENIXIR® (Saccharomyces cerevisiae Extract) is a patented product, available in aqueous solution (recommended amount: 0.25 to 2.5%) and that respects biodiversity regulations. This active ingredient has a content of natural origin of 99% (ISO 16128) and is compliant with international cosmetic regulations (Europe, United States, China, Japan, etc.).
