Modern genomics, proteomics and life-science wouldhave not undergone milestones achievements withoutthe support of power ful physical methods for theinvestigation of molecular structures. Chemistry,molecular biology and medical research are in debtwith mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy. TheNobel Pr ize in Chemistr y for 2002 awarded thefundamental contribution of soft ionization MS methods –electrospray and MALDI – and biomolecular NMR.
