The ingredient list, or INCI list, can be a real goldmine for those skilled in the art:
understanding what other Formulators use when developing a cosmetic product is an interesting part of our job. It is educational as well as insightful.
 

A BRIEF CLARIFICATION ON THE PURPOSE OF "BEHIND THE LABEL"

A little while ago I was attending a congress in London and chatting to a leading skin scientist during one of the networking breaks, when they raised some concerns on the potential efficacy of a product I had reviewed in a previous issue of this Journal as well as the claims made by the Manufacturer.

This conversation prompted me to write a few lines to clarify what the very purpose of "Behind the Label" is.

So, what is "Behind the Label"?

As I wrote more than three years ago when we started this column, it is my firm belief that the Ingredient List is an important tool in the cosmetic industry.
It can be a goldmine for Formulators looking for some sparks of inspiration as well as trying to understand how fellow scientists formulate their products.
