INTRODUCTION

The EU Cosmetics Regulation EC No 1223/2009 is the gold standard in global cosmetic safety regulations due to the high level of control and restrictions which it puts on ingredients and safety assessment requirements of the finished product, to ensure consumer safety. Product safety is of paramount importance to Oriflame Cosmetics, and for this reason all Oriflame cosmetic products are formulated to be safe in accordance with the provisions of the European Cosmetics Regulation (EC No 1223/2009), regardless where in the world they are manufactured or sold.

In Europe, the safety and compliance of cosmetic products is monitored by the local Competent Authority to ensure products are safe and in line with EC No 1223/2009. If your product is not compliant or unsafe, you risk your product being recalled and featuring on The Safety Gate Rapid Alert System which outlines all non-food product recalls in the EU. By ensuring you adhere to EC No 1223/2009 you will ensure you are producing safe and compliant products and negate the risk of consumer health risk and subsequent reputation damage (1).
