Abstract
Personnel hygiene continues to be importantin limiting the spread of common infections. Consumer products are needed which are effective in limiting the spread of pathogenic microorganisms. Quantitative microbial risk assessment offers an approach to evaluatethe effectiveness of anti-microbial products and other interventions that would reduce the risk of infections. It has been applied to estimate reductions in infections from the use of laundry disinfectants and washingconditions, hand sanitizers, anti-microbial coatings on textiles, and other treated inanimate objects.
