Royal DSM N.V. and Roquette Frères haveannounced that they have signed a jointventure agreement for the production,commercialization and market developmentof bio-based succinic acid, subject toregulatory approvals and notifications.The formation of the joint venture is a newstep following the successful cooperationbetween DSM and Roquette pursuant to ajoint development agreement (“JDA”). GuyTalbourdet, CEO of Roquette, said: “Bio-basedchemistry will become important in the futureas fossil feedstocks will become scarce andmore expensive. We are proud that our alliancewith DSM has succeeded in developing themost sustainable bio-based succinic acidtechnology in such a short period of time andwe are looking forward to commercializing andscaling up the production in the near future”.
