Abstract
Ozonolysis is a well-known reaction that can beused as an alternative to established heavy metal oxidationreactions. Several advantages come from using ozonolysistechnology: as this does not involve a solid/liquid reaction, itcan be run as a continuous or batch process; also, as it tendsto be a very high yielding reaction, there are no additionalseparation steps to remove unreacted reagents. Importantly, ozonolysis is more flexible and more environmentally friendlythan many other oxidation reactions. The increase in thenumber of companies demanding greener processes hasled many chemists to find an ozonolysis as an alternativemethod for oxidation.
