INTRODUCTION

Weight management, due to rising numbers of overweight and obese people, has become an increasingly serious global problem and remains an important market for food supplements. Between 1975 and 2006 the population of overweight and obese people almost tripled. It has been demonstrated that obesity is linked to the risks of developing associated diseases, and so food supplements must now offer solutions with dual activities including the reduction of risk factors and/or improvement of metabolic parameters.
