Abstract

Among the new ingredients introduced incosmetic products, peptides may be the most innovativeones. The use of peptides as ingredients has increasedsignificantly in recent years, since their mechanism of actionis very specific and they can be used at very lowconcentrations. As aging occurs, human skin shows manychanges and anti-aging is one of the most importanttargets for the cosmetic industry. Peptides can counteractmany mechanisms of aging that were not possible toaddress in the past. This article shows the main applicationsof these actives in functional anti-aging cosmetology with ashort description of their mechanism of action.
