Karen Hecht, Ph.D., is the Vice President of Science at AstaReal Inc., where she leads research and education initiatives on astaxanthin. Karen holds a biochemistry degree from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in Biological Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She also brings postdoctoral research experience in algal biomaterials from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Karen is dedicated to advancing the nutraceutical industry by fostering interdisciplinary collaborations that drive scientific innovation. Additionally, she co-chairs science webinars for Women in Nutraceuticals and is a member of CRN’s Senior Scientific Affairs Committee.
