Dr Reddys

Dr. Rakeshwar earned his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Lucknow where he conducted research under the mentorship of Professor V. K. Tandon. During his doctoral studies, he spent almost a year at University of Regensburg, Germany under the supervision of Prof. Oliver Reiser.  His doctoral work features synthesis of heterocyclic compounds of pharmaceutical significance and lactone derived natural products.  Thereafter, he completed three postdoctoral studies at University of Regensburg (Prof. Oliver Reiser), University of Pennsylvania, USA (Prof. Marisa Kozlowski) and Texas A & M University (Prof. Kevin Burgess).  Moving forward, he spent over 16 years working in API-R&D serving the generic pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited based out of Hyderabad, India. Since 2006, he held various positions in the organization and currently functioning as Vice President and Head of Chemistry, API-R&D. He emerged as Chemistry leader with overall 24+ years of experience in the R&D at academic and pharmaceutical industry set up with extensive knowledge and experience in various drug development processes, served in company strategic committees and instrumental in commercialization. He published >150 research articles in internationally renowned journals, >30 patents for chemical processes, >100 invited lectures at prestigious conferences and universities, noteworthy contribution to the Indian Pharmaceutical industry and mentored >15 scientists at Industry by helping them upgrade their education from masters to PhDs.

He serves as member, Advisory Board of Editors of European Journal of Organic Chemistry (2019-2021) and OPRD which is an ACS flagship journal in process chemistry. He is recently appointed as a visiting Professor at IIT-Bombay, India and Manipal Institute of Technology, India.

In his leisure time, he enjoys mentoring young generation chemists and plays with his pet dog, TOMMY.
